NW City Expansion 2026

๐Ÿ† HTX Expands City Program to Northwest Houston with Launch of City NW ๐Ÿ†

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ March 17, 2026
๐Ÿ“ Houston, Texas

The new City NW program will identify and develop top players from Northwest Houston while strengthening the journey into the nationally competitive Girls Academy.

The club is proud to announce the launch of HTX City NW, expanding the clubโ€™s City Program to serve the Northwest area of Greater Houston, including Tomball and Cypress. The program will begin with the 2016 and 2017 age groups and align with the clubโ€™s existing City teams that prepare players for higher levels of competition and eventual progression into the Girls Academy beginning at U13.

โ€œThe decision reflects the continued growth of soccer in the Northwest region of our city and the increasing number of talented players emerging from the region," said Andy Squire, Girls Director. "Population growth, combined with the success of programs such as NW Catalyst (boys), has highlighted a strong opportunity to identify and develop a deeper pool of U10-U12 players capable of competing at the national level starting at U13.โ€

โ€œThis is an exciting moment for the Northwest side of Houston,โ€ said Diego Copa, Cypress & Tomball Location Director. โ€œWeโ€™ve seen tremendous growth in participation and player development in communities like Tomball and Cypress over the past several years. Launching City NW allows us to support that momentum while creating an environment where talented players can train with purpose, compete at a high level, and continue progressing in the game.โ€

The City NW program also builds on the success of the Tomball 17G Gold team, whose development journey helped highlight the emerging talent in the area. Their progress has helped lay the foundation for the City NW program and will serve as a model for future teams in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 age groups.

Rodrigo Miranda, who has coached many of the players forming the foundation of the new team since their earliest years in the club, reflected on the milestone. โ€œThis moment is the result of years of commitment to development,โ€ said Miranda. โ€œIโ€™ve had the privilege of coaching many of these players since they were three years old in our Recreational program with oversized jerseys, tiny cleats, and big smiles. They progressed through the Youth Academy and earned their place through dedication, work ethic, and love for the game. They didnโ€™t inherit this opportunity, they created it. Their journey shows what can happen when players commit to improving and when clubs invest in development over time.โ€

The launch of City NW also builds on the momentum of the Girls Academy, which continues to compete at the highest levels nationally. In 2025, HTX Soccer made history by becoming the first club to win back-to-back US Youth Soccer National Championships at the U13 level, bringing home the clubโ€™s third national title in 12 months.

As the City NW program begins its first chapter, Talent Identification sessions will be held in April for players across Northwest Houston interested in joining the program.

Players interested in being evaluated should register for competitive tryouts and for more information regarding the City Program, please contact Andrew Squire, Girls Director at asquire@htxsoccer.com.
