FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 1, 2026
The world's biggest sporting event is coming to Houston, and HTX is ready to celebrate with our members every step of the way.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 promises to be the largest and most historic tournament in soccer history. For the first time ever, three nations including the United States, Canada, and Mexico will co-host the competition. The tournament will also feature an expanded 48-team format, increasing the excitement with a record 104 matches played across North America.
Houston will play a major role on the world stage, hosting seven FIFA World Cup matches at NRG Stadium and welcoming fans from around the globe. In addition, the city will be home to a 39-day FIFA Fan Festival in East Downtown near Shell Energy Stadium, creating an unforgettable celebration of soccer, culture, music, and community.
As the excitement builds, the club is proud to support the World Cup experience throughout Houston. We are partnering with local restaurants and venues across the city to provide our members with opportunities to watch live matches, gather with fellow fans, and enjoy the energy of the tournament in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
"HTX, along with our partners, is excited to host close to 30 viewing parties and be a major part of the World Cup excitement across Houston," said Simon Boddison, Director of Soccer Operations for HTX. "We look forward to kicking off the festivities and enjoying a summer filled with exciting matches, unforgettable moments, and opportunities for our members and the soccer community to come together and celebrate the largest sporting event in the world."
