Blinn College - West Campus Training

Posted on April 02, 2023 BY Simon Boddison

Blinn College Men’s Coaching Staff were on site in Fulshear providing training sessions for the 2004 PA, 2004/05 Orange and 2005 PA teams on Thursday night.  Michael (Mac) McBride and his assistant Rudy Roediger were putting the players through their paces and educating the players regarding college opportunities.  The club has currently placed 59 players from this year's 2023 graduation class onto college rosters with scholarships.

"Coach Rudy and I were excited to be invited to Katy / Fulshear to run a session for the Houston Dynamo Dash West Boy’s teams," said Coach McBride, Blinn College.  "We are always looking for serious players, who can help elevate our program. There is no better way of identifying this level of player than having the opportunity to work with them. We’d like to thank the club staff for making this possible and hopefully there will be more sessions in the future."

"We have a responsibility to provide as many opportunities for our players to work with or be evaluated by college coaches from around the country," said Ristic Radjoica, West Director. "These type of events are very valuable and we look forward to strengthening our networking connections with Blinn College and the coaching staff."

Dynamo | Dash Youth Soccer Club is proud to announce that 24 members of the Class of 2023 have signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) on National Signing Day to continue their soccer career in college. These commitments include nine (11) NCAA Division I schools, as well as several Division II and III powerhouses.

Dynamo | Dash Youth continues to lead the way in the Houston area in player development, with over 390 college commitments since 2017 and 42 national team selections. The graduation class of 2022 saw 69 players commit to play college soccer.

“I am incredibly grateful to the coaching staff at Dynamo | Dash Youth for their time and effort they put into helping find a college that was the best fit for me and connection with potential college coaches. My recruitment process would not have been as successful if it weren’t for the coaches’ unwavering support and the many recruiting opportunities provided by the club for the teams at all levels to be seen by top colleges," said Kathryn Lennon, Girls Academy U19 / University of Richmond. "My coaches went out of their way to meet with me about my school preferences, and they helped form a list of colleges that would meet my criteria. All of the staff were more than willing to provide insight and tips on the recruitment process, and they all had different coach connections they were happy to introduce me to. On behalf of the class of 2023, I would like to thank all of the coaches at the club for their guidance and efforts to get us to the next stage of our soccer careers.”

“I’m so excited to begin my collegiate journey at Southern Miss next year, " said Madeline Ellis, Girls Academy U19 / Southern Mississippi University. "The Dash program has made me the player I am today and I could not be more grateful to my coaches for all of their time helping me grow as a player. The tools, resources and the opportunities that the club has provided in their player development pathway really helped me navigate my way through the whole recruiting process.”

"The club has a responsibility to enhance college recruitment opportunities through our resources and extensive networking connections," said Simon Boddison, Director of Soccer Operations. "As part of our membership commitment, we will continue to provide a comprehensive free online platform that educates and informs all the players and families about the recruitment process to ensure the best opportunity for success. carrousel_timeline_ppt-04-04

With the start of a new school year around the corner and the college commitment period having just passed, we want to congratulate the 50 Dynamo | Dash Youth soccer players in the Class of 2021 who have committed to colleges to continue their soccer careers.

Dynamo | Dash Youth has helped 514 players reach their collegiate dreams since 2006, including 40+ players in every graduating class since 2018. We’re also extremely excited that 100% of the Girls Academy Class of 2021 has committed to play at the next level.

Providing our members with collegiate opportunities is a core mission of our club, with resources made available through our College Center presented by Northwest Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. More than 2,000 Dynamo | Dash players are registered with College Fit Finder, a free online service we provided to help connect players to colleges and universities that best fit their situation. In addition, our staff is constantly providing seminars, team workshops, in-person education and 1-on-1 support to help players and families navigate the college soccer landscape.

Along with that support, players also have access to an extensive college recruiting network through our coaching staff and high visibility in front of college coaches across the country during a wide range of tournaments, showcases and league play opportunities.

We wish the Class of 2021 the best of luck as they head off to college this fall, and are excited to continue working with the Class of 2022 and beyond to place players in exceptional positions to advance their athletic careers. Six 2022 players have already made their college commitments, and we look forward to adding more over the course of the year!

"The club has a responsibility to enhance college recruitment opportunities through our resources and extensive networking connections," said Simon Boddison, Director of Soccer Operations.  "As part of our membership commitment, we will continue to provide a comprehensive platform that educates and informs all the players and families about the recruitment process to ensure the best opportunity for success. I along with our entire coaching staff look forward to celebrating all the college commitments this year."

Posted on May 03, 2021 BY Simon Boddison

College BlogHeader-RD1-1-11-21-2

The club is very proud to announce that Gabriel Hull (Dynamo | Dash Youth) has committed to Clemson University with their Paralympic Soccer Residential Training Program (RTP). Clemson’s RTP is a unique opportunity for athletes with disabilities, and allows athletes with a disability to continue playing collegiate soccer while earning their college degree. Players earn in-state tuition waiver in the form of an athletic scholarship and will train weekly with the team. This is the only program of this nature in the United States. Athletes will seek to excel on the field with team training, personal development training and strength and conditioning, as the program seeks to prepare players for the US Para National Team. This distinctive program, the only one in the country, is paving the way for soccer players with disabilities in the United States.

Mitchell Cardenas & San Diego Sockers Win Championship

Posted on April 20, 2021 BY Simon Boddison

Mitchell Cardenas and the San Diego Sockers won their 15th indoor championship (Ron Newman Cup) by beating Ontario Fury 2-1, April 16, 2021 in Ontario. Mitchell Cardenas (Houston Dynamo Youth | Campbell University) followed in his father's footsteps Alex Cardenas (Dynamo Youth Boys Academy Director / San Diego Sockers 2001-2002) by playing at the same club twenty years later. San Diego Sockers are part of MASL (Major Arena Soccer League).

"It means a lot to win a championship in a city and organization that my father was a part of as well. Seeing him play and win several championships at the professional level motivated me even more and set the standard of what winning means, so I’m happy and thankful to my family for their support." Mitchell Cardenas.

"It is a great feeling to see Mitchell fulfill a goal in his soccer career and it makes me very proud to see him become a champion with San Diego. The Sockers was a team in which I also played for in my professional career and unfortunately lost in the final" said Alex Cardenas. "I hope that many more triumphs will come in his life and I take great pride in knowing that Mitchell was a bi-product of our program since he was 8 years old and that hard work pays off at some point."

Dash Senior Recognition Day

Posted on March 29, 2021 BY Simon Boddison

College BlogHeader-RD1-1-11-21-2

Dynamo | Dash Youth is proud to congratulate the 25 players that took part in the first-ever Houston Dash Senior Recognition event this past Sunday at Aveva Stadium. The Class of 2021 is highlighted by commitments to 12 NCAA Division I schools, as well as additional signings at powerhouse Division II, III, and NAIA institutions.

"We are extremely proud of these players that have worked exceptionally hard on and off the field to complete the recruitment process and solidify their college choices,” said Girls Academy Director, Mark Gibbs. “We wish them all the success and look forward to following them in their future academic and athletic endeavors at their respective schools."

Chris Canetti, President of the Houston World Cup 2026 Bid Committee, emceed the event, with Houston Dash Head Coach, James Clarkson, and goalkeeper, Jane Campbell, presenting awards. Campbell, also a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team and a former college standout at Stanford University, offered insight and advice for the graduating seniors as they prepare for life as a student-athlete and beyond.

"Playing for the Dash has been an amazing journey because I’ve been with the club since the start,” said midfielder Sydnie Thibodaux, who has committed to Auburn University for the fall. “This club has not only made me a better player on the field but a better person overall. I couldn’t be more grateful to have been a part of not only the club itself but the community that comes with it."

The club continues to lead the Houston area in prospective student-athletes committed to collegiate soccer programs. Since 2017, over 200 players from both the girls’ and boys’ programs are continuing their careers collegiately and 34 players are involved in their national team programs. The Dash Girls Academy is the only program in the area to provide direct access to the professional ranks as the affiliate of the NWSL’s Houston Dash.

B. Debunking Athletic Scholarships and the Importance of Academic Scholarships: Who, What, Where, When, Why:

With our Partner Virtual College Counselors
When: Thursday, March 4, 4:30pm PST
DescriptionCollege is expensive. Across the globe, the cost of education is rising dramatically, and many families are being left behind. Now more than ever, a student and family's educational opportunities are defined by the financial aid they receive from colleges and universities. However, many families are overwhelmed by the purposefully convoluted process surrounding scholarships, grants, and student loans.

Join us as we tackle the importance of academic and extracurricular scholarships: who should apply, what are these scholarships, where are they, when should you apply, and why are they so important in the long-term success of a student and family.

C. Prepping for A Showcase and The Future of Standardized Testing Post-Covid:

With our Partner Virtual College Counselors
When: Monday, March 15, 4:30pm PST
DescriptionFor decades, standardized testing (e.g. ACT & SAT) has been a crucial determining factor in admission offices admitting or denying students. Recently, the legacy of standardized testing has seen radical changes and the effects are causing ripples in the higher education world. More colleges and universities are going test-optional or test-blind with their admission processes. Earlier this year, the College Board even canceled the SAT subject tests and the optional essay portion. What will the role of testing be in a post-COVID higher education landscape, should you take the test, will this affect scholarships, and could we be seeing the final death throes of the standardized testing industry? Join us as we tackle all testing topics.

What you need to know before going to a showcase?  How to get seen?  What to say?  When to reach out?  Coaches have their schedules set before they show up to the fields.  Make sure you're on their list!
