6th Annual South Texas Spring Showdown Sees Record Growth and Continued Expansion
The South Texas Spring Showdown delivered a weekend to remember, bringing together top youth talent from across the region.
Hosted in The Woodlands, this year’s event spanned three premier venues at Gosling Sports Fields, Bear Branch Sports Fields, and Falconwing Sports Complex showcasing the club's commitment to first-class athletic facilities. Across two action-packed days, one hundred and eight two (182) teams and over one thousand, seven hundred and fifty (1,750) players competed in an impressive two hundred and eighty two (282) matches, culminating in thrilling championship finals on Sunday where medals were presented to the finalists and champions.
The tournament featured a wide range of competition formats, including 5v5, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11 play for both boys and girls teams, with age groups spanning from U8 through U14. This structure allowed for developmentally appropriate competition while showcasing the depth of talent across multiple age levels.
Adding to the experience, the weather couldn’t have been better, clear skies and comfortable temperatures set the perfect backdrop for a weekend of outdoor competition.
“On behalf of the entire tournament staff, I want to thank our incredible volunteers, referees, coaching staff, and all of the visiting teams for making this event such a tremendous success,” said Stuart Taylor, Tournament Director. “To see the number of participating teams double from last year is a testament to the growth of the event and the commitment from everyone involved. We look forward to next year's event with the anticipation of further expansion."
The success of the event wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of key partners and community organizations. The club extends its sincere gratitude to The Woodlands Township for their ongoing support and stewardship of these outstanding facilities. Appreciation also goes out to Simple Truth, Fine Designs, PhotoMules, Go4 Athletic Training, and Kona Ice for enhancing the tournament experience for players and families alike.
“The club, in partnership with The Woodlands Township, has continued to excel in providing youth soccer tournaments for more than 20 years,” said Simon Boddison, Director of Soccer Operations. “Providing a positive economic impact to the local community and hosting events for residents without extensive out of town travel is why we continue to grow our tournament series each year. We look forward to hosting more events in the coming Fall 2026 season."

HTX Soccer is the largest youth soccer club in the Greater Houston area, with over 8,500 players ranging from recreational to elite levels, ages 3 to 19. Serving a 100-mile radius from Downtown Houston, HTX represents the true heart of soccer in the city and its surrounding communities. Since 2006, HTX has helped more than 800 players advance to collegiate soccer, more than any other club in the region.
