Congratulations to **Michaela Abam** of the Houston Dash family (former Texas Rush player) who will join Sky Blue FC after being selected in the first round (4th pick overall) in the NWSL Draft hosted in Philadelphia.

**Michaela Abam** completed her college career at West Virginia University with 100 points on 42 goals and 16 assists. The 42 goals stand as the third-highest mark in program history, and she led the Mountaineers in points over four consecutive seasons. She also holds a West Virginia record by making 95 appearances, including 79 starts. Michaela earned All-Big 12 First Team honors over the past three years and was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team this past fall.  To learn more about Michaela success [click here](http://wvusports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2705).

We wish Michaela continued success as she starts her professional career.

*"Things definitely happen for a reason and God has a plan for everyone’s life.  I’m so blessed, excited and fortunate to be in the position I am in now and can’t wait to see how this part of my life’s journey unfolds.  I couldn’t be more thankful after being welcomed into the Texas Rush and becoming part of the Rush family.  Each day I was mentored and pushed by the amazing coaching staff to get me to reach my full potential.  I was cared for and loved by the Rush environment that is like no other.  The resilience and efforts that helped start grow my pillars through collegiate soccer is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life.  I couldn’t have been more blessed to have a coaching staff that included like Andy Squire, Darron Rush, Jamie Bell, Dave Dengerink and Don Gemmell.  Thank you Rush for making my last year of club soccer a memorable one and for making times like these more thankful for the sacrifices that have been and the ones that are to come.  RUID all day, once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer, and let’s gooo Sky Blues!"*   **Michaela Abam, Sky Blue FC.**
