⚽️ HTX Soccer Hosts TOPSoccer Coaching Course in The Woodlands, TX

📍 Houston, TX – February 10, 2026

HTX Soccer proudly hosted a TOPSoccer Saturday Coaching Education Workshop at Bear Branch Park in The Woodlands, presented by South Texas Soccer. The event featured both classroom instruction and on-field demonstrations designed to educate and support coaches, administrators, and volunteers involved in the TOPSoccer program, a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with cognitive, developmental, and/or physical disabilities .

All participants earned a TOPSoccer Coach Certification upon completion of the course.

"HTX Soccer is a leader in adaptive programming within the Houston soccer community, and that’s why we made it a priority to host this workshop. Hosting the clinic provided an excellent opportunity for our team to deepen their understanding of the program’s structure, goals, and impact," said Keith Johnson, Adaptive Program Director. "The combination of classroom education and on-field demonstrations helped us connect theory with practice, giving us new tools and ideas to bring back to our programs. We’re especially encouraged by the resources and support that are becoming increasingly available at both the state and national levels. This type of collaboration and knowledge sharing is essential for continuing to grow inclusive programming in youth soccer. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for all players at the club.”

"It was a pleasure to host the TOPS Coaching Certification Class. This program gives coaches the tools and resources to work with players with a variety of disabilities," said Phil Ebner, Grassroots Director. "At HTX Soccer, we have one of the largest Adaptive Soccer programs in the country. Our commitment to these athletes and families is to provide ongoing education to our coaches as we continue to evolve the environment. A final thank you goes to Keith Johnson, our very own decorated Paralympic Goalkeeper, who has proudly represented his country many times, and now plays an integral role in the Adaptive Program."

The club is very much looking forward to the Adaptive Program this spring season along with our summer camps, where players can enjoy a supportive and fun soccer experience. Our mission is to ensure that every child has the chance to play, grow, and be part of the soccer community.
