Walter Anoruo Joins Girls Academy Program

Walter Anoruo will join the Girls Academy (GA) Program staff for the 2026/27 season. Born in Nigeria, Walter has dedicated the past 20 years to the Houston soccer community. First, as a player, and more recently as a coach committed to advancing the game and developing young talent.

Walter holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from West Texas A&M University and a UEFA B License. His playing and coaching experience spans multiple levels and countries, including collegiate soccer at UH Victoria and Texas A&M International, as well as time with Aab FC in Denmark and ASC New Stars.

In addition to his strong soccer background, Walter has been a leader in the futsal space, helping develop and coach some of the top players and teams in the region and creating positive transfer from the futsal court to the 11v11 game.

"I’m truly excited to be joining HTX and becoming part of such a special community," said Walter Anoruo. "From my conversations with Randy and Andy, it was clear right away that we share the same vision and passion for developing players the right way, which made this opportunity even more meaningful to me. I’m really looking forward to working with such talented players, connecting with families, and playing a role in continuing to grow and elevate the girls’ game

“Walter is a great addition to our GA Program. His passion and ability to teach individual technical and tactical detail to young players is excellent," said Andy Squire, Girls Director. "He has found that ideal balance of developing elite players and building teams that can compete with intensity. Above all else, Walter cares deeply for the players under his direction and is constantly pushing the boundaries to extend and elevate their opportunities. I am looking forward to seeing him excel in the Girls Academy.”
