For Immediate Release
December 12, 2024

**HOUSTON, TX —**The [Girls Academy](https://htxsoccer.com/elite/girls/#1680113486104-46663426-5098) traveled to compete in the [GA Winter Showcase & Champions Cup](https://girlsacademyleague.com/winter-showcase/) at [Silver Lakes Sports Complex](https://silverlakespark.com/), Norco, CA on December 5-9, 2024. Six teams traveled to California and five of those teams qualified to advance to the Champions Cup Finals at [IMG Academy](https://www.imgacademy.com/?utm_source=gmblisting&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=brand_management), FL during March 6-11, 2025.  This event was the first Champions Cup event of the season with all qualifying teams from U13 to U19 in attendance.  The Champions Cup bracket matches up the country’s top GA clubs to create marquee games drawing hundreds of college coaches and multiple US national team scouts.

"Once again the Champions Cup Winter event did not disappoint and gets better each year. It is always great to have the opportunity to play in front of college coaches and US Soccer scouts," Caelyn Moore, HTX Soccer 2009 Girls Academy (Class of 2028).

"Playing against some of the best club in the Girls Academy League at Champions Cup was super intense and exciting.  I really loved the energy and atmosphere around the complex," Janie Toh, HTX Soccer2012 Girls Academy (Class of 2023)

"The GA events are first class.  The Champions Cup format only elevates the experience even further ensuring high quality, meaningful games that are exciting to watch.  This is what draws the college coaches/scouts and it’s a brilliant opportunity for our players.”  said Andy Squire, Girls Director. “This event marked the end of the fall season so it’s a great time to reiterate how proud we are of the players.  As a program we played 96 games with a 71% win rate.  More importantly, the teams played a brand of soccer that is exciting to watch and prepares them to transition successfully into the college level.”

"I can’t speak highly enough of the Girls Academy Champions Cup," said Randy Evans, Technical Director.  "The quality of opponents, facilities and organization of the competition combined with an extraordinary number of college coaches and USYNT scouts in attendance made it a fun and exciting environment for the players."

HTX Soccer Coaching Staff: **Randy Evans** (Technical Director), **Andrew Squire** (Girls Director / 07 GA Head Coach), **Willie Fowlkes** (12 GA & 09 GA Head Coach), **Andrea Casella** (08 GA Head Coach), **Hiro Suzuki** (11 GA & 10 GA Head Coach), **Carlos Rivera** (11 GA & 10 GA Assistant Coach), **Jaelyn Cunningham** (Goalkeeper Coach).

**ABOUT HTX SOCCER**

HTX Soccer is the largest youth soccer club in the Greater Houston area with more than 8,500 players at every skill level from recreational to elite from the ages of 3-19. The club truly represents the sport in Houston, with teams serving a 100-mile radius from Downtown Houston. Since 2017, it has developed over 440 players who have gone on to play collegiately, more than any other club in the area, and 62 players have been selected to attend their respective youth national teams activities. HTX Soccer’s elite boys’ teams are part of the ECNL, the most competitive youth soccer league in America, and its elite girls teams compete in the Girls Academy (G.A.) League against the top teams and clubs throughout the country.
