The club's 12th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign was once again an overwhelming success, providing a generous donation of $20K to In The Pink of Health / Memorial Hermann Foundation. The campaign, organized by the Girls Academy and brought to you by Hunter Family Orthodontics, sold over 1,500 shirts to raise the funds. The remaining proceeds will continue to provide additional resources for the Girls Academy Program (GA | GA2). This campaign remains a shining example of how service to our communities continues to be a core value for HTX Soccer members.
"It is such an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign with HTX Soccer,” said Dr. Ross Hunter of Hunter Family Orthodontics. “The players do a fantastic job of raising awareness throughout the month of October in our community. My mother is fortunately a breast cancer survivor, so it brings me great joy to see all the pink shirts being worn by the athletes, knowing that a part of the proceeds go towards finding a cure!”
Since its inception, the club has been able to donate $110K to local charities, with more than 13,000 pink shirts sold and worn in the Houston community. The club would like to recognize and thank the following individuals for attending the check presentation: Ann Wolford (President, Wolford Group) Linda Nelson (Director Business Development & Marketing, Memorial Hermann), Patti Jorgensen and Michelle Leary (Co-Chairs of In The Pink of Health 2023).
"We are grateful to these young athletes for raising funds to help those struggling with ovarian and breast cancer,” said In the Pink of Health co-chair Michelle Leary. “Statistics show that many of these young women will be faced with a loved one battling these diseases in their lifetime and it is so encouraging to witness their compassion and support at such a young age. We are all in this together and we are so grateful for this continued partnership with HTX Soccer.”
"I would like to thank all the players, parents, coaching staff, team managers for their incredible support throughout the campaign," said Marcus Watt, Breast Cancer Awareness Director / Girls Academy Head Coach. "It’s a program that continually grows each year and has provided support and resources to those fighting breast cancer. We are thankful for the continued support of our membership and all the people who supported."
"A huge thank you once again for the continued sponsorship support from Dr. Ross Hunter and his staff," said Simon Boddison, Director of Soccer Operations. "Dr. Hunter is very passionate about supporting the fight against cancer and he continues to be a very active member of our local community supporting youth sports."
